Tag-size shelves in the UIDBuy Spreadsheet

On these eight shelves the inspector checks the size printed on the tag. Whether that size fits you is a separate question, and it is the one this page helps with.

UIDBuy's inspection scope is written in plain terms: inspectors compare the colour, the model and version, the size label, stains and any widespread damage with what you ordered, and they read size from the label and tag. Colour difference and actual measured size are listed as outside the scope. So a photo of a hoodie can prove you were sent a large in black without holes. It cannot prove a large fits.

For clothes and shoes that gap is the whole game. Each shelf below says what the standard photos handle well, which measurement to request, and how the item behaves in a parcel. A sample listing from each shelf sits underneath, picked from the catalog on October 23, 2026, with its listed price at that time.

Puffers and coats: volume arrives before weight

Inspection photos of a jacket show the front, the back and a close look at the collar or a label. Zips, filling and seam damage show up well; colour is the usual surprise, because warehouse lighting is flat and cool.

Puffers compress, but a coat with a stiff collar or a fur trim does not, and many routes bill the larger of real weight and box size. If you are buying one coat with a few small things, ask for a rehearsal pack (UIDBuy lists it at 20 RMB per parcel) before you pick a route.

Hoodies: chest width in centimetres settles most arguments

Hoodie photos are good at print placement, cuff ribbing and whether the zip runs straight. They are weak on fabric weight; a heavyweight fleece and a thin terry look the same from the front.

Seller charts usually list chest width laid flat, in cm. Measure a hoodie you like across the chest, double it, and compare with the chart instead of the letter size. If the listing gives no chart, a paid detailed photo showing a tape laid over the chest costs 1 RMB.

T-shirts: small letters, short bodies

T-shirt inspection is quick: front, back and the neck label. Print alignment, holes and stains are easy to judge from three photos. Shrinkage after the first wash is not something any warehouse photo can show you.

Chinese letter sizes often run a size small and a little short in the body. Ask for body length as well as chest width, and if you are between two sizes on the chart, the larger one is usually the safer pick.

Sweatpants: cuffs, rise and the drawcord

The photos settle colour, cuff style and whether the drawcord is present. Fabric stretch and rise height are hard to read from a flat lay.

Ask whether the hem is ribbed or open and for the front rise in cm if you care how high they sit. Sweatpants are light, so they are a sensible add-on to a heavier parcel rather than a parcel of their own.

Jeans: the waist number is only half the answer

Denim photos show wash, distressing and the back patch clearly. Whether a rip was meant to be there is a fair question for a photo; whether the leg tapers the way you like is not.

Waist sizes like 30 or 32 are often Chinese measurements that do not match a US waist tag. Ask for the flat waist and the inseam in cm. Distressed denim is also where inspectors sometimes flag a "defect" that is actually the design, so read the inspector's note before you ask for a return.

Sneakers: trust the insole, not the box label

A standard warehouse set for shoes is three fixed angles: the pair from the side, the soles, and the tongue or heel label. That is enough to confirm colourway, that both shoes are the same size, and that nothing is torn or stained. It does not tell you how the pair fits, because the inspector checks the size printed on the tag, not your foot.

Most sellers list EU numbers, and a few list the Chinese "mm" length. Before you pay, ask the seller (or UIDBuy, through the order note) for the insole length in millimetres and compare it with a pair you already own. If the stock photo shows a shoe box, remember that a boxed pair is billed by the carton, so a second pair can cost more in freight than the first.

Jerseys: count what comes in the set

Football kit listings photograph badges, sponsor prints and name sets well, so inspection photos are good for checking the right club, season and number. They are less good at fabric: a match-style knit and a fan-style knit look close on camera.

Many listings sell a set of top and shorts, sometimes with socks. Check the option names before you pay, because the cheapest option on the menu is often the top alone. Ask for the printed name and number to be photographed if you ordered a custom print.

Womenswear: a search, so read each listing on its own terms

There is no single women's shelf in the catalog; this tile runs a keyword search instead. Results mix hoodies, knitwear, bags and accessories, so the photo advice from the other shelves applies item by item.

Women's sizing on Taobao and 1688 listings is often given by height and weight bands. Use those bands as a starting point, then check the bust and length figures in cm. If a listing only shows a model photo, ask for a flat-lay picture at inspection.

Measurements worth requesting before you pay

If you only take one habit from this page, make it this: ask for numbers, not letters. A seller's size chart is a start, a tape measure in a detailed photo is better, and your own favourite garment measured flat on a table is the yardstick for both. Write the numbers you want into the order remark when you submit, so the purchaser and the inspector see the same request.

For tops, chest width and body length. For trousers, flat waist, front rise and inseam. For shoes, insole length in millimetres. For anything with a stretch fabric, ask whether the chart was measured relaxed or stretched; sellers do both and rarely say which.
